The EC5 is RainSoft’s premium computer-controlled water conditioning system. Its smart microprocessor continually monitors household water use and adjusts operation to meet your family’s needs. Water entering the EC5 passes through a specialized ion-exchange resin that captures calcium and magnesium, the minerals primarily responsible for hard water. Conditioned water then returns to your home’s plumbing system for use throughout the house.

Rather than regenerating on a simple preset schedule, the EC5 monitors how much water your household actually uses and initiates regeneration when necessary. During regeneration, a salt solution removes accumulated hardness minerals from the resin and flushes them down the drain, preparing the system for another conditioning cycle.

Softened water can make a noticeable difference throughout the home. Soap and shampoo can lather and rinse more effectively, while hard-water spotting, scale and soap scum are easier to control.

Reducing hardness minerals can also help protect plumbing fixtures, water heaters and water-using appliances from scale buildup. Because the EC5 regenerates according to actual household demand, it can also help reduce unnecessary use of salt and water compared with systems that regenerate strictly on a fixed schedule.
